our story

For years, Jada Shapiro, a doula and the founder of Birth Day Presence, watched her clients struggle with breastfeeding because they weren’t getting good support fast enough. Everyone tells you to breastfeed — and the first few days are crucial to success! — yet hospitals provide minimal help, and there’s no time to hunt for a lactation consultant with a brand-new baby. Too many new mothers struggle alone with pain and worry in the first days of breastfeeding.

“I was walking around my own neighborhood in Brooklyn realizing there are people right here who are worried and in pain, and all they need is support and information. Sometimes you just need to try a different latch or another simple fix that will make all the difference,” she said. “Or maybe you need an experienced professional to tell you what’s normal and what to watch for so you’re not freaking out trying to figure it out all on your own.”

My daughter-in-law was pretty much in tears (of happiness) after your visit. We are all very grateful. Thank you so! Molly, an OB from Michigan who found us online for her daughter-in-law, who was not getting enough help

Jada had been informally offering her clients an early breastfeeding visit, when she had her aha moment! What if people who were having trouble could just text for help and she could come right over? The answer was a resounding YES!

When the texts started rolling in faster than she could keep up with herself, Jada launched Boober to instantly pair new mothers with breastfeeding professionals who can help you reduce pain and increase milk production within hours.

it’s the only in-person, on-demand breastfeeding support service in the world.
