How to Build Milk Supply with Stimulation at the Breast
Milk supply is driven by stimulation at the breast. As the lactation counselor (and boober provider) says in this video to the new mom who is trying to build her milk supply, “You can’t breastfeed too much. You can breastfeed too little.” Creating more stimulation is key to successful breastfeeding. Breastfeeding is a demand and supply situation. Baby is the best tool to bring in the milk and drive milk supply. The counselor also emphasizes the importance of mom taking care of herself. Ultimately, stimulation of the breast with breastfeeding and pumping are critical.
Note: every situation is different and struggling breastfeeding parents should seek professional help as early as possible.
